Frequently Asked Questions

Are children allowed to attend Candle Pouring Workshops?

Given the risks associated with handling hot wax, guests must be at least 14 years of age and accompanied by an adult to attend a Candle Pouring Workshop. Safety is our number one priority, immediately followed by FUN!

Can my bestie, Mom or child come along to watch me make my candle?

We love our little studio and want everyone to be comfortable and safe! Therefore, only registered guests, who have paid for a seat, are permitted in Wick and Pour Studio during Workshops. Children under 14 years old are not permitted in the studio during Workshops.

What are Wick and Pour candles made of?

Our candles are made with a US grown soy wax blend, paper/cotton blend wicks and are phthalate, paraben, zinc, lead, and dye-free. Our premium fragrance oils are a combination of essential oils and synthetic fragrance. They are of the highest quality and 100% phthalate-free.

How long is a Candle Pouring Workshop?

Our workshops include approximately 60 minutes of instruction. Afterward, the candle needs another 60 minutes to cure before it can be taken home. While it cures, you are welcome to wait in our studio or on our balcony. We have adult color books available and some games to pass the time. You can also check out our building buddy on the first floor, Eclipse Gaming Cafe, offering soups, sandwiches, drinks and snacks. Enjoy a round or two of your favorite board game and head back upstairs later to collect your candle. If you would like to stretch your legs, downtown Carlisle is beautiful and safe, with many restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. If you would rather not wait, you are welcome to schedule a day/time within 30 days to pick up your candle from the studio.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

Reservations are non-refundable. However, if you notify us at least 48 hours before your reservation date/time, you may reschedule once to an upcoming workshop within 90 days (space permitting). For example, your workshop is on Thursday, 6/22 at 6 pm. You should notify us via email or phone, no later than Tuesday, 6/20 by 6 pm to reschedule. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Is there Parking nearby?

Yes! There are several parking options only steps from our door and they are all FREE during our Workshop Hours. If you would like to show off your parallel parking skills, there is plenty of On Street parking available on Pomfret Street. A Public Municipal lot is a few steps from our door and the Pomfret Street Garage (3 levels) is located a half block from Wick and Pour Studio. All of the options listed are FREE Monday-Friday after 4:00 pm and all day Saturday/Sunday! Easy Peasy….No need to stress!

Is the Studio available for Private Events?

Yes, we would love to host your event! Our studio can comfortably seat up to 10 people. We are available for private events by appointment Monday through Friday and some Weekends (outside of our scheduled workshops) for groups of 6-10. Our private Candle Lounge next door to our studio may be used for up to 2 hours (during workshop and candle curing time). You are welcome to bring outside snacks and drinks including adult beverages (no shots). All food must be kept in the Candle Lounge. Please contact us for more information and to check availability.

Are we allowed to bring outside food and drink?

Due to our limited studio space, outside food is not permitted during our regular Candle Pouring Workshops. However, Eclipse Gaming Cafe is located on the first floor of our building and offers many food and drink options.

Outside food is only permitted for Private Events and must be kept in the Candle Lounge next door to our studio.

We are a BYOB establishment. Adults over 21 are welcome to bring wine, beer, malt beverage or hard cider (no liquor or shots) to enjoy after the workshop…while the candles are curing. 🍷🍺 Please be prepared to show your ID to Wick and Pour Staff, if asked.

Is Wick+Pour Studio handicap accessible?

We are located on the Second Floor of a charming 123 year old building and unfortunately, the only way to reach our studio is up a flight of stairs.

What should I do with my empty candle jar?

We encourage you to recycle or repurpose your jar. Here are a few ideas:

Planter - Add stones/dirt and a plant or succulent 🌱

Bathroom - Holder of cotton balls, bobby pins, hair ties, Q-tips

Office/Home - Collect paper clips, loose change, bulletin board pins, jewelry

HOW TO REMOVE WAX FROM JAR (follow link): https://www.bhg.com/homekeeping/house-cleaning/tips/how-to-get-wax-out-of-candle-jars/

*NEVER pour wax down the sink drain or toilet - it will clog your pipes. Use old glass jar (spaghetti sauce..) or metal can to discard melted wax. Let cool completely before putting jar/can in trash bin.
